“Ever After” Co-Bookwriter
“The Devil Wears Prada” Co-Bookwriter
Kate Wetherhead’s web series, “Submissions Only”, which she created with collaborator Andrew Keenan-Bolger in 2010, has been described by New York Magazine as “the best (funniest, smartest, warmest) series ever made about show folk” and by Entertainment Weekly as “the best show not on TV”. Kate wrote or co-wrote all twenty-two episodes of the three-season series, which can be found on both YouTube and BroadwayWorld.com. Along with Keenan-Bolger, Kate also co-authored the Penguin Young Readers’ book series “Jack & Louisa”, which follows two theater-loving pre-teens in Shaker Heights, Ohio. “Jack & Louisa: Act 1” and “Jack & Louisa: Act 2” were released in February 2015 and 2016, respectively, with “Act 3” set for release in 2017. Kate and Andrew are getting ready to submit their debut short film, The Ceiling Fan, for which Kate wrote the screenplay, to film festivals. Kate is also working on her first play commission for the Dallas Theater Festival.
In addition to writing, Kate is an actress, having appeared in New York on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee and Legally Blonde; Off-Broadway in God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater (Encores!), Clever Little Lies, The Other Josh Cohen (Drama Desk nom.), Ordinary Days, and Sarah, Plain and Tall. She has performed extensively in regional theater at such places as The Guthrie, George Street Playhouse, Dallas Theater Center, Paper Mill Playhouse, Buck’s County Playhouse and Goodspeed Opera House. Having had several opportunities to work/collaborate on new plays throughout her career, she has become somewhat obsessed with dramatic/narrative structure, which has had a major impact on her decision to start writing herself.
